All in the Trading Family

For Demi Xidas, trading is a family affair. Both her brother and sister trade actively (her sister “Teddy,” in fact, was the February Face of Trading profile), and she collaborates with them on trading ideas.  Demi starting trading in college with small amounts of capital, buying the occasional stock she had read about.

Xidas currently works as a substitute teacher and trades on the side, but she has traded on and off — more actively at some times than others — for more than 30 years. Early on, she used a full-service broker who suggested stock picks and put on the trades. However, he got her into some losing positions, which led her to think she could do better. In the late 1990s she began to explore a more self-directed type of trading.
