SEC criticized on rule-approval process

The Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of Inspector General (OIG) serves as the watchdog group for the SEC. Its latest suggestion has U.S. exchanges smiling.

In early April, the OIG issued a report saying the SEC needed to do a better job in approving rule changes sought by the exchanges, a complaint the exchanges have long held.
