New public offerings fall in 2008
By Active Trader StaffThere were no venture-backed IPOs in the second quarter of this year — the first time this has occurred since 1978, according to a survey conducted by the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) and Reuters. There have been a total of 23 IPOs in 2008 through the end of June, with only five venture-backed companies going public in the first quarter. By contrast, the third quarter of 2007 was one of the heaviest in recent years, with 31 venture-backed IPOs.
